Auto and RV dealers – listen up! If left unattended, these business practices may get you into trouble:

  • Payment packing
  • Falsifying information or signatures
  • Deceptive practices
  • Discrimination
  • Disclosure of (safeguarded) personal information
  • Kickbacks/bribes – receiving them or offering them
  • Bird dogging (illegal in some states)
  • Spot disclosures with no chance of approval
  • Harassment of any kind or nature
  • Money laundering
  • Back-dating documents
  • Odometer fraud
  • Transactions involving wrecked vehicles without proper disclosures
  • Any indication or suspicion of a “washed” title

Consider developing policies and procedures to prevent these practices from happening. Educate your staff and then have each employee acknowledge that training with a sign-off page (which should be filed in their personnel jacket.) Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
